Why Minneapolis–St. Paul teams book an on-site headshot day

The Twin Cities punch above their weight in corporate density. Retail and consumer brands, health insurance and managed care, banking, food and agribusiness, and medical devices all have deep roots here. Add the University of Minnesota, major health systems, and a thick layer of law, accounting and engineering firms, and you have a metro where "the corporate office" is a serious thing.

That mix creates specific headshot demand:

  • Medical device and healthcare: physician bios, clinical leadership pages and investor presentations.
  • Banking and insurance: advisor profiles, relationship-manager pages and board materials.
  • Food, retail and consumer: executive portraits, brand and marketing team pages, and supplier-facing directories.
  • Professional services: partner bios and recruiting materials that compete for talent with the big names.

Large employers also run large internal communications programs: intranet profiles, leadership town halls, org charts. A consistent portrait of every person makes all of those look more finished.

How a headshot day works in a Minneapolis–St. Paul office

The Twin Cities have a signature feature: the skyway. Downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul have enclosed pedestrian links between buildings, which means employees can walk to the studio room without putting on a coat. In the suburbs, Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Minnetonka and Plymouth hold sprawling corporate campuses with plenty of parking.

A standard day looks like this:

  1. Book. Pick a date. The 50% retainer reserves it.
  2. Choose the room. About 10 by 20 feet with one outlet, preferably near a main corridor.
  3. Set up. The Kemp crew arrives around an hour before the first session.
  4. Shoot. Two to three minutes per person.
  5. Select. People see their images right away or in a private gallery and pick one.
  6. Receive. Retouched finals typically land in one to two weeks.

Winter shapes the planning more than anything else. We build in buffer around travel so a snowy week does not push back the first session. If building management asks for paperwork, a certificate of insurance is available on request.

What does a corporate headshot day cost in Minneapolis–St. Paul?

Rates are flat. Half Day is $3,600 and Full Day is $4,850. Our crew's trip from Orange County is part of the price, so a Minneapolis office pays the same flat number as a St. Paul one.

Package Flat rate Typical headcount Illustrative cost per person
Half Day $3,600 ~50–60 people ~$60–$72
Full Day $4,850 ~150–250 people ~$19–$32
Multi-set or multi-day Quoted HQ campuses, multi-site teams Quoted after a short call

The last column is only an illustration of the math. At 160 people, a full day lands near $30 each. Retouching of each selected image is included, and the usage rights let your business and every pictured employee use their headshots commercially without added fees.

Neighborhoods and suburbs we serve around Minneapolis–St. Paul

Twin Cities companies sit in three rings: the two downtowns, the first-ring suburbs, and the big corporate campuses farther out. We work in all three.

  • Downtown Minneapolis and the North Loop
  • Downtown St. Paul and Roseville
  • Bloomington and Edina
  • St. Louis Park and Minnetonka
  • Eden Prairie and Plymouth
  • Eagan and Maple Grove

If you are somewhere else in the metro, tell us where. Most of it is workable.

Multi-office companies with a Minneapolis–St. Paul location

Many Minnesota companies are headquarters for a national or global operation, with satellite offices in Chicago, Denver or Kansas City and a regional presence everywhere. Rolling out one portrait style across all of it is a project in itself.

Kemp Photography has done it. For Sentry Insurance, we made 552 headshots across offices in 12 states in about a month, every office on the same lighting and backdrop recipe. Your Twin Cities site gets the same Kemp-trained crew, never local subcontractors, applying the same standards as at every other office.

Minneapolis–St. Paul headshot day FAQ

What does a Twin Cities headshot day cost? Half Day runs $3,600 flat and covers roughly 50 to 60 people. Full Day runs $4,850 flat and covers roughly 150 to 250. Our crew comes from Orange County and that travel is baked in. A large corporate campus or several offices is priced as extra sets or extra days.

Our office is connected to the skyway. Does that help or hurt? Mostly it helps. Staff can reach the studio room without going outside, which keeps people on schedule. We just need a quiet room of about 10 by 20 feet and an outlet, and we will coordinate load-in with building management.

Can you handle both Minneapolis and St. Paul offices? Yes. Minneapolis and St. Paul are close enough that one trip covers both. We usually give each site its own day or half day, with identical lighting and backdrop so the two teams match. If one site is small, we can pair it with the other in a single long day.

Do you work in winter? Yes. The shoot is indoors, and we build extra buffer into travel for winter dates. We plan arrival around your schedule so the first session starts on time. Snow does not change the flat rate, and your team never needs to leave the building to get their portraits taken.

We have offices in many states. Can you keep the look consistent? That is the point of one recipe at every site. We repeat the lighting, backdrop and framing everywhere and send the same lead photographer where possible. Minneapolis becomes another stop on the itinerary, and the final images look like they came from a single shoot, not many.

How is usage handled? Once the work is paid, your company and each pictured employee can use the headshots commercially, on the web, in print and on LinkedIn, with no per-use fees. Kemp Photography retains the copyright. That means people can keep using their portrait if they change jobs or roles later.
